My holiday essentials

September 8, 2017

So, it's the last day of our holiday in Turkey and it's a sad day. We've had a fantastic week away and we have fallen in love with Marmaris all over again. Despite being extra organised and attempting to pack smarter and lighter than usual, i'm very aware that there is a lot in my hotel room that I did not need to bring with me. Anyway, there are a few things that I couldn't live without; that I am now calling my "holiday essentials". These include:

Skinny tan

I have only just been introduced to this by my best friend who raves about it. It's a great little tool to have in your holiday bag to banish the "whitest legs around the pool" syndrome that I often suffer with on the first few days in the sun. I use the oil, which goes on effortlessly and the colour develops over 8 hours, before showering off. The results are great - no streaks and natural  tanned colour.

Vaseline spray moisturiser

I always pack a bottle of this. It's a great alternative to traditional after sun products. It's lightweight to carry, leak-proof and is applied as a spray, which is easily absorbed into the skin for  a quick "moisturise on the go" situation. I find it helps cool sun-baked skin and isn't sticky or tacky like some after sun products. It helps prevent peeling after your holiday is over and I keep using it when I get home to ensure a lasting tan.

YSL Black Opium

I take my favourite bottle of Black Opium with me everywhere I go and I always get compliments. It's a distinctive, musky smell that is great to spritz as you're getting ready for an evening out after a day in the sun.

Boots Soltan sun protectant

I have really sensitive skin and every time I travel to the sun, I try a different product, hoping that one day I will fine something that suits my skin. Well, I may have just achieved that! For the past week, I have been using the Soltan factor 30 cream and my sensitive skin has been kept in check. It's protected me against sun burn and I have been in and out of the water all week. It offer 5* UVA and UVB protection and goes on really well. It is also mild enough to use on the face.

L'Oréal Hydra Genius

I have written about this product before, but I just love it. It's like applying an Aloe Vera  moisture mask with just a single squirt of the serum. I apply this straight after a shower on my my face and neck, at the same time as applying the Vaseline moisture spray.  It isn't sticky and it can be used as a great base or primer. I also apply this right before bed, after taking my makeup off and my face still feels super moisturised when I wake up the following morning.

Jungle Formula

I don't travel abroad without this. It comes in different strengths and I buy either 4 or 5 ", which have the strongest deet content. I have previously suffered from mosquito attacks and it can make an otherwise wonderful trip away quite miserable. So, I now spritz myself with this stuff before leaving the mosquito-free safety of my hotel room.
