South East Asia Calling

March 2, 2019

There's just a week to go until our next trip to South East Asia and I can hardly wait!  Since the first time we travelled to that part of the world together in 2016, we're always talking about when the next trip will be.  However, due to work commitments, buying a house and our travel destinations getting in the way, it's been a few years since we were last making the long journey to the other side of the world.

We're starting our journey from London Heathrow Airport,  where we'll fly to Kuala Lumpur via Dubai with Emirates.  Previously,  we've always flown into KL with a direct flight with Malaysia Airlines,  but I hate the 14 hour flight, so Dubai will be a welcome stop over this time. When we land, we will be heading for the city and we've planned 3 nights in ParkRoyal Kuala Lumpur; a great hotel that we've stayed in a couple of times before.  It's in a great location in Bukit Bintang - the heart of the city's hustle and bustle.

After a few days in the city, it'll be time to get on another flight - this time to Phuket on the west side of Thailand.  We usually spend time on Koh Samui when we travel to Thailand,  but were mixing it up this time and exploring a new island. We'll be staying in a quiet part of the island - Surin Beach. We're spending 9 nights there, chilling out and soaking up the sun at Manathai Surun Beach hotel.

The final leg of our trip will be back to KL for 2 nights, staying at the KL Journal Hotel, before departing for London.

I can't wait for this trip. I'm looking forward to the culture, the weather, the people and the food.

Stay tuned and I'll be updating the blog as often as I can.
